Each one has extended experience and education in their fields of service and bring with them a deep passion for assisting seniors to live happier, longer. Executive Director - Laurie Spurlin

​Laurie takes her hospitality, hospital and senior living background and combines her business and sales management experiences to motivate and help others. This taught her the importance of dignity while aging. Laurie’s pride and joy is her son, and she enjoys swimming, spending time outdoors, music and traveling.

Jeanie McNeil - Director of Recreation and Events

Jeanie McNeil has been with Oak Park Village At Slidell since December 2016. Her responsibilities include managing the newsletter, calendar, and making sure the residents have a good time. Jeanie likes to greet  residents at breakfast every morning and informs them of the day’s events. She arranges outings such as picnics, scenic drives,luncheons at different restaurants, casino trips, singers and dancers,and seasonal events. Residents have the opportunity to join a variety of clubs including: walking club, reading club, baking club and taste testing club. Jeanie’s goal is to make everyone smile and laugh.

Bessie McQueen - Director of Health & Wellness

Bessie has been in the medical field for 25+ years.  She has a BSN and her career includes stints at Ochsner Clinic Slidell, East Jefferson Hospital, Gulfport Memorial Hospital, and Slidell Memorial Hospital. Her hobbies include reading, gardening, cooking, fishing, and sewing. Kindness and caring are qualities that she promotes within the staff at Oak Park Village at Slidell.  She devotes herself to increasing the quality of life within her community and building new relationships along her journey.
